I’ve worked in the fitness industry for over 20 years. As a personal trainer and with fitness magazines. I live by my motto #LiveDamnIt, and among other things, I've done over 4000 skydives and 24 Ironmans – just because I felt like it.
I eat wild game and potatoes. Eggs. Real food. Period.
Honestly, I’ve hated protein shakes for most of my life. Thought they tasted weird and felt quite unnecessary.
Until a year ago.
I said yes to being a cycling guide. I enlisted the help of coach Jessica Unogård to get my cycling legs in order. She structured my training but also said, "Get your protein in. Often."
The base was still meat and potatoes. But I needed something that worked when life moved fast. When you’re on the go between sessions, meetings, and miles in the saddle. I found a protein powder that actually tasted okay. And started having it as a snack.
Three months later, I was faster, stronger, and had more energy than ever.
It wasn’t magic. No extreme diet.
The big difference?
More protein in my snacks. And a little more strength training.
I still think moose meat and potatoes are the best in the world. I'll never give that up. But I do have a protein shake as a snack – because it’s easy. Because it works. And because I want to keep this feeling throughout life.
To be strong.
To have more endurance.
To live damn it – long, long, long!
My current favorites:
Protein Coffee mixed with milk (I throw in an extra cup of coffee)
Clear Whey Lemon. Fresh. Simple. In the sauna after training!
It doesn't have to be more complicated than that. Real food as a base. Smart replenishment in between.
